At the start of Q4, we hear from customers and facilities we have met with throughout the year. Either for budget, planning, or due to recent challenges, we are always asked about ROI and how our body and package screening systems can fit into long-term operations and budget parameters.
The fact is – Q4 is the perfect time to look back and make sure you are investing limited budget dollars effectively to put in place infrastructure that will grow with your facility. For example, make sure you are paying one price for everything you need. Does your quote include installation? Training? Warranty? If the answer is no, you are opening yourself up to additional expenses down the road and potentially under a new budget.
What about software upgrades? Since smugglers will never stop developing new ways to bring contraband in, your system’s capabilities must grow with the threats. If you are being charged every time a new software is installed with upgraded threat detection, again, you are going into long-term budget uncertainty. The same goes for preventative and long-term maintenance and rapid response service. If you don’t have a contract in place, you could potentially be responsible for unlimited service and repair expenses.
Bottom Line – the end of the year is the ideal time to review your budget and plan for the long-term. Just make sure what you are investigating in meets your needs – not just on the day of installation. But for the next 10 years.
