Security Focus – Front Lobby

Achieving Comprehensive Security

By Eric Bush

One of the best parts of my job is meeting corrections and law enforcement leaders from across the country and listening. Every facility faces unique operational and security challenges that require a customized approach.

One important conversation more facilities are having and asking questions about is the front lobby – security screening procedures for employees, visitors, and contractors and the materials they bring. While traditionally this has been a challenge for numerous reasons including budget, space, and regulations, growing recognition of this vulnerability has spurred development and made multilayered, front of the house security accessible to courthouses, correctional facilities, and rehabilitations centers.

A company founded and operated by corrections professionals, STVS has engineered an integrated front of the house solution that achieves three central goals:

  • Help ensure contraband is prevented from entering – either concealed on a person, in a handbag/individual property, or hidden in a third-party delivery
  • Respect the privacy and health of all employees and visitors
  • Protect and comply with all laws and customer procedures on data security

The STVS system is comprised of three main components – each providing complimentary screening and verification capabilities.

  • ES3 Millimeter Wave Body Inspection System: Without emitting any ionizing radiation and by leveraging Automatic Threat Recognition (ATR), ES3 generates a whole-body scan in two seconds.
  • CX Family of X-ray Inspection Systems: Compact X-ray systems engineered in different sizes and throughputs for all security programs to screen bags, mail, parcels, and deliveries.
  • TR2000 Desktop Explosives & Narcotics Trace Detector: Powered by a non-radioactive ionization source (NRIS), TR2000 simultaneously detects and identifies trace amounts of narcotics and explosives in seconds.

There is no magic solution that alone can deliver security and stop contraband from entering your facility. It takes an integrated approach and working with someone with the proven experience you are looking for.

STVS has the field-proven technologies and experience to deliver both.  The first step is asking how to get started. We are available 24/7 to help.

We hope to see you at the 101st PA Sheriff’s Association Summer Training Conference, July 10-12 in York, PA. Visit booth #39 to meet me and learn more.
